Yesterday (Sun Aug 2nd) we went to Sea World (SA) to watch some of the new shows
and ride the Texas Splashdown. Attendance was good.
The weather was overcast and hot, then the clouds cleared out some later.
Arrived around 1:30PM and began to watch the shows.
Attendance was very high at the afternoon shows.
The shows are scheduled such that you can go show to show within a few
hours time, and catch most of them with a minimal amount of walking and/or waiting.
We watched Viva, Believe, Cool Vibrations, then Pirates Plunder.
Later we watched Shamu Rocks. Too bad we missed going to Cannery Row this time--maybe
some other day!
Viva still has a large attendance, although I get bored with it rather quickly.
The Beluga whales are my favorite in that show.
Believe--still kinda cool, but not as fun as the later show--more Shamus more fun!
Cool Vibrations--in the ski arena. The ski stunts were great, the singing and dancing
was good, but both together were kind of distracting. The beach entertainers there
certainly had that old Six Flags charm---you'll see what I mean if you watch it!
Some good audience interaction, dancing.
Pirates Plunder---a new show. Lots of corny stunts, joking around, etc--but not much in
the way of singing or dancing to speak of. They do have quite a bit of audience interaction
and allow photos afterwards, which is a plus.
After Pirates Plunder, we rode Texas Splashdown (log ride). The line was
reasonable, but got backed up a bit with some technical problems (the
boats were stopping right before a drop, and had to be manually pushed
sometimes). Although-- it was much safer boarding than SFFT version.
Shamu rocks--More rockin' music, more audience interaction, special effects, and an extra whale or two.
Right at the very end, you get to see two whales jump out of the water, side by side--quite
a sight! Left the grounds after that.
