For this thread, let's have the members here introduce themselves so we can get to know more about you. Feel free to be as detailed as you like!
Here's some more about me:
My name is Jimmy Bhakta and I was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 11, 1979. Both my parents are from India (on the other side of the planet), so that makes me a first-generation Amercian. I also lived in Houston for about 6 years.
I've had a life long interest and fascination with the weather; in fact my user name Hurricane is after one of my favorite weather phenomenon. I'm planning on studying atmospheric sciences soon and my career target is weather forecasting. For now, I'm currently working on the Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry required for atmospheric sciences.
My favorite sports (playing and watching) are tennis, basketball, bowling, and golf. I was on the tennis and bowling team back in high school. I also follow the NBA regularly. I also enjoy playing video/computer games; my favorite game is Donkey Kong 64 on my N64.
I recently became a coaster enthusiast back on September 1999. My two home parks are SFFT and the nearby Sea World of Texas. I've only been to five theme parks so far (the four major parks in Texas and SFoG). Hopefully I'll get to visit some more in the future.

My name is Colin. I like amusement parks and roller coasters. Go me.

My name is Brandon and I was born on June 19 (Haha Hurricane, no year for you!) and I live in Austin. I have lived here most of my life. I lived in Houston for two years and it sucks. (No offense to anyone who likes it, or lives there.) I'm currently in High School and I plan on taking a career into Marketing or Graphics Design. As you can tell, this is my website. I have done alot of design/web work for many others around the net and am currently opening a hosting company with a partner of mine.
I've been a coaster enthuiast for about 4 years now. My first coaster was Steel Eel at Sea World. I have been to many parks including IOA, FT, SFAW, SWOT, SWO, SFOT, Adventure Dome, all the other crap in vegas, Kema Boardwalk (It counts now) Disney Land, Disney World, Universal Studios, Opry Land, Schlitterbahn Beach & NB (if your gonna count them, so am I) and few others.

I guess I should put down a little bit about myself.
My name is Brad. I grew up (a long time ago) in Big D and now live in Greenville, Texas (duh!) and I have a great wife, two marvelous kids and a Spaniel mix dog.
I work for the local newspaper and my main interests are my family, travel (road trips), movies, the Cowboys and Mavericks.

Hi, my name's Byron. I was born on November 11, 1986 (11/11, easy to remember) and I grew up in League City, TX (halfway between Houston and Galveston). I'm now in Arlington going to school at the University of Texas at Arlington and it's my first year. I have a site about AstroWorld that rarely gets updated that can be found in my signature.
I have been in the enthusiast community for over 3 years now, but I have loved coasters as long as I can remember. I remember watching the entire newscast the day that Taz's Texas Tornado opened to see the POV footage that Channel 2 had. I also remember wanting to see what Dungeon Drop was going to look like after I heard about it (as well as Mr Freeze).
SFAW was my homepark for pretty much all of my life (with the exception of while I'm up here at college, if that counts), but I've been to SF America at least 3 times that I can remember: once as Wild World, once as Adventure World, and once as SFA. I have been to SFMM, SFFT, SFOT, CP, SFA, PKD, BGW, WDW (of course), and IoA.
Well, that's me....

Ok, I guess it's my turn now...
Hi, my name is Carlos. I was born in Houston, Texas October 18, 1983. My parents divorced when I was 7 and I moved to a little, podunk town near Corpus Christi called Mathis. My first park I visited was SFAW and I consider it my homepark.
I have always loved coasters and parks because of Astroworld. Yes, I know it's not the best park in the world, but hey, I like it. My first ride on the Viper back in 1991 is what got me hooked (if you've noticed my username). I offically became an ACE'r in 2000.
Since then I have been to SFAW, SFFT, SFOT, SWSA, the 4 Disney parks, Universal Orlando, IOA, SW Orlando, BGT, CP, Kennywood, Michigan's Adventure, SFWOA, Holiday World, Indiana Beach, SFKK, and PKI. I hope I didn't forget any. My current coaster count is at 117. Could have been 118 if SOB wasn't closed!!
Not only have I been to many parks, but I have worked in a few. In the summer of 2003 I was a ride host at Cedar Point on the Mantis. It was the best summer of my life. I also took up an internship with Walt Disney World during the Spring Semester. I worked Disney-MGM Studios at the Rock n Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. Probably the best decision I have ever made.
I am currently a Junior at Texas A&M University-Kingsville majoring in Business Marketing. I'm hoping to use my degree to find a career in a park.
Forgot one more thing. I play the trumpet and I'm a huge Drum Corp International fan! Go Blue Devils!
Well, that's me. NEXT!!!

Well, here goes my 2 cents...
I'm Stacy, born January 19, 19...ehem... here in SA.
I've lived in SA, Houston, Corpus, LaGrange, Richmond, and Bryan/College Station, but consider myself "raised" in Corpus (we lived there 4 years, but were there a min of 1 weekend a month for most of my life).
I'm mother of 3 and grandmother of 3.
I considered SFAW my home park from the age of 6 (my first visit) until we moved back to SA in late 2003. Guess it'll give away my age if I say how many years that was, huh?! SFFT is now my home park, and SKC is my favorite ride there.
My first 'coaster' was Serpent at AW when I was about 8, and my first "big" coaster was DFERR at AW when I was 13. I've been hooked on coasters since the first ride on DFERR.
My coaster count is 27, although I wish it was higher. I watch coaster shows on tv when they're on, and drool at the site of some awesome-looking rides that I'd love to find myself on. Unfortunately life didn't hand me the finances to do that kind of traveling, so I continue to drool and dream.
I've been to SFAW, SFFT, SFoT, SFMM, and SFStL. I've been to SWSA, but not since they built Steel Eel and Great White; so I don't count it.
I hope to become an official ACEr in the near future, and am looking forward to the Fiesta Fest event in October.
Oh, and I like to talk (couldn't tell, could you?!).
Hm. "2 cents". Think that was more like 7. :D
Edit 8/3/06: I completed my list on coastercounter.com and my count is more than I thought. A whopping 30. lol
Edit 3/6/07: An update, FWIW... my coaster count is now a 'big ole' 37. I've been an ACE member since September 2006, and I've finally ridden Steel Eel and Great White at SWSA! (I know y'all were all just dying to know. :p lol)

Hello all,
My name is Joshua, I am 22 years old and the son of "Stacy" on the forums. I have a wife and a pain-in-the-rear dog and lastly a Bearded Dragon (lizard). I frequent several amusement park forums such as Sixflagshouston.com, themeparkreview.com etc. under the same screename. Some of you may already know who I am.
I grew up in Bryan/College Station, TX and frequented Astroworld when I was growing up, with the occasional trip to Fiesta Texas and SFoT. I moved to San Antonio about 6 months ago seeking better career opportunities and lifestyle, so far so good. I have visited several theme parks, including:
Astroworld
Fiesta Texas
Six Flags over Texas
Frontier City
Six Flags Great America
Six Flags over Georgia
Six Flags St. Louis
Universal Studios Florida (and Islands of Adventure)
Walt Disney World (all 7 parks)
SeaWorld San Antonio
I am a member of ACE, and am planning to attend several events this year. I did attend Fiesta Fest in 2006 and enjoyed the ERT very much. Hopefully I will get to meet some of y'all in the coming year!

Six Flags Great America

Hi! My name is Lewis and I live in England about an hour drive from Manchester. My dad lives in Houston so I come out to visit about 4 times a year and we often come to San Antonio and go to fiesta Texas. We used to have a season pass for astroworld and we were really sad when it closed, even though fiesta Texas is actually the better park.
The park I visit most often and my favourite park is pleasure beach Blackpool mainly because it is the nearest and it has a good mix of modern and classic rides. I also like Alton Towers.
Always checking up on this forum and thought it was time to join so it is great to have finally done so.

Hi Lewis... welcome to the Forums!!
I guess I'll say a little bit about myself.
I currently live in Cibolo, Texas, where I have lived for 6 years (non-continuously) and attend Steele High School. I just recently moved back after a short stint on both coasts, which explains my recent joining to the site. I've always been a frequent visitor, just never really thought about joining to be part of the discussion boards.
I've been an enthusiast for as long as I can remember, as I grew up at BGE in Williamsburg, VA. Ever since then I've been hooked, and all though I may be very young, I've already experienced about 108 coasters, due to my father's participation in the military. My favorite coaster is SROS at SFNE, and my favorite park is (sorry guys!), BGE. Fiesta Texas, SFNE, and Hershey park all follow behind closely. At SFFT, my favorite coaster is Poltergeist, followed closely by SKC, THBS, and Rattler.
Oh yeah, my name is Jake

Hi, I'm Karen, have lived in San Antonio most of my life but also lived in Louisiana and Florida. I have 2 sons and we're all former employees. I worked in the park in 97, 04 & 05. My older son worked in the park in 03 & 04 and my younger son in 03. Of course, the last two years I worked in the park, I was one of those shadowy, behind the scenes, admin-type folks. I don't know if I'll make it to the park this year due to financial concerns, but man, I'd really like to ride the new Tony Hawk ride. I'm also very interested in whether the food in the park has improved; that's really the only gripe I've had with the park in all the times I've been there.

Welcome everyone!
Karen, to your question about the food. I personally find the hamburgers are much better this year than last. Last year they didn't seem to have a lot of flavor, the buns didn't seem fresh (they weren't soft when we got them), etc.
However, we had the burger baskets at Pete's on Saturday (the 17th), and they were very good IMO. The buns were fresh, the meat had a great flavor, and the curly fries were really good too.
We normally get sausage-on-a-stick and turkey legs (we can walk around with those!), and to us, those have always been good... and this year is no exception.
We've also eaten at Ol' Blues this year (twice) as well as at Festhalle (foot-long frankfurters), and so far I'm personally VERY pleased over last year.
Course, everyone has their own definition of what's good and what isn't, so what I think is really good and what another person might think is really good could be two totally different things....
So this is only my lowly little humble opinion. :o

Well, Stacy finally got me on here.
My name is Nathan, and I just recently moved to the San Antonio area. I got located down here with work. I grew up in Arlington and grew up on SFOT. I'm not real sure what my first coaster was but it was at SFOT, that was awhile ago and I wasn't counting at the time.
I would list the parks I have been to but there are too many to list here. I added my 44th park Memorial Weekend 2006, and I added my 240th coaster, THBS, this season.
I used to work at SFOT and when I left I was a ride lead at Judge Roy Scream.
I have been an ACE member since 2002 and went to my first event shortly thereafter, Fiesta Fest 2002, and have been hooked on events ever since. Last August I finally got to participate in a Coaster Marathon and had a lot of fun, I was really tired afterwards, but I had fun.

Hey!! I'm Kristi, born January 2, 19??, in Temple, Texas. I am a high school Family & Consumer Sciences teacher in Killeen ISD.
I have lived in Central Texas since about 5 years old but before that, we lived in the Arlington and San Antonio areas. Probably my first roller coaster was the one at Kiddie Park on Broadway in San Antonio but the one I remember the most was the Runaway Mine Train at SFOT at about the age of 5 or 6. I remember my Dad making me ride it and after that I was hooked. My first big coaster was Shockwave at SFOT at the age of 10.
I consider SFFT as my home park even though I am about 2 hours away. SFOT is also only about 2 hours away. Poltergeist is my favorite SFFT coaster and Shockwave is still my favorite SFOT coaster.
Our family vacations always included one of the amusement parks. I was very fortunate to have visited Astroworld many times before they tore it down. Texas Cyclone was my first big wooden coaster. DFERR and Greezed Lightnin’ were my two favorites at that park.
My coaster count reached 70 with my ride on THBS during Spring Break. I was also able to add the Coney Island Cyclone to my list this past year as well. What a ride that was!! I rode X at SFMM last Spring and it is the only coaster that I have ever been on that has really scared me to death!
I have been an ACE member for 3 years and try not to miss any of their Texas events. I don’t have any children of my own so I borrow my brother’s to give me an excuse to visit the parks.
We visit as often as we can—I am hoping to turn my niece(Erin-10) and nephew(Seth-4) into to coaster fans as well. They have even started their own coaster count. Maybe I will see some of you at the next ACE event.

Welcome, Kristi!
There are a few ACErs 'hanging around' here on the forums, and I'm sure you'll run into a few of us at the events. The next one coming up is SchlitterCon IV on Saturday, May 26, and I imagine there will be an "unofficial takeover" of SFFT on Sunday, May 27 - there normally is. :D
Look forward to talking with you more, and meeting you at the next event!

Well,
I'm from North Texas and my home park is Six Flags over Texas. I have ridden 28 coasters, 1 powered, and 2 fair coasters.
My first park was Knott's Berry Farm, and then Disneyland a couple days later. The only ride I rode was It's A Small World, though I can't remember it, cause I was 6 months old.
I like to collect park maps. So far I have:
Six Flags over Texas: 1965, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007
Schlitterbahn: 2006
Disneyland: 1989, 2002
Disney's California Adventure: 2002
AstroWorld: 2000, 2005
Fiesta Texas: 2001, 2005
Elitch Gardens: 2003
Legoland: 2000
Magic Mountain: 2000
I like to run cross country, play basketball, search airline websites, and run sound boards.
Well that's me.
P.S. I like Fiddler on the Roof ;)

My name is Heather Johnson and I live in Austin,Tx. I have been into coasters for 10 years, and my first coaster was The Roadrunner Express. If things go right Fiesta Texas will be home to both my first and my hundredth coasters (Goliath). I was supposed to hit #100 in Virginia during my Oct trip, but due to a couple ride closures, that didn't happen.
My favorite (#1) steel and wood coasters are Apollo's Chariot, Nitro, and The Voyage.
I have seen a few familiar names on this site from other forums, and I am glad that Stacy told me about this site! I look foward to posting and reading in the future.

I don't always have time to keep up on forums ever since my laptop died, but I have a history of posting on SixFlagsHouston.com and LoneStarThrills.com as DungeonDrop for the past few years. I do have a couple current posts on SFhouston. I have posted twice on ThemeParkReview but rarely visit anymore, mostly due to the lack of a computer. I used to visit mostly for videos to show to non-coaster friends. Nowadays I have forgotten my password so I spend hours on Youtube instead. :) It is just amazing what you can find on there!
I also read Rec.roller-coaster occasionally. I have posted in the past under a variety of names, including Rattler61 and DungeonDrop.
Glad to have found a website supporting my home park(s)!

Well, this is really late but, I'm Lacy and I live in Dayton, Texas. I'm about 4 hours away from San Antonio and we visit every year. It's pretty much my favorite city in the world, with Chicago at a close second. I love the atmosphere of SA. This year will be my 5th visit to FT and only my third time to ride coasters there! :X My first rollercoaster was the Steel Eel 3 years ago at Sea World, which I thought was going to kill me. I didn't like the way it made me feel but I decided to get on Polty at FT and I was hooked. I absolutely love the adrenaline rush and the heights and the speed and everything about rollercoasters. Reading everything all of you have said about FT's rollercoasters has really got me even more excited than I would normally be and I just can't wait to go back! I didn't get to ride anything but Polty last year so this year will be my first for Superman, Boomerang, RRE, THBS and um...anyone wanna talk me into the Rattler?
Anyway, I'm going to be 18 this year and I'll hopefully have my homeschooling finished by the end of this year. I want to go to college and have a big great career but at the same time I could see myself perfectly happy working somewhere like Sea World or Fiesta Texas, doing who knows what. I haven't really decided yet though. I just know that I want to make enough money to be able to travel all over the place and ride every rollercoaster I can :D
I loveeee to talk to people, especially about rollercoasters or anything San Antonio so if anyone thinks I'm even remotely interesting (doubt it) you can find me on AIM at 'not west bayyy' or message me at my myspace. (http://www.myspace.com/dcflagrecords)

Hi my name is Chris, Im 38 and live in Austin. Moved here from Missouri where I pretty much grew up (from 8 to 18 before joining the military). I currently program for a living in a small not for profit organization.
Last year (07) was my first visit to SFFT, I have always had a small place in my heart for Six Flags parks, as thats where I always went as a kid in Missouri (Six Flags over Mid America in St Louis).
I have 2 daughters 11 and 9 and have been happily married for almost 15 years. My wife hates thrill rides, but indulges my "addiction", she is a trooper, holding the stuff and watching our girls while I go and have fun.
My very first "real" coaster was the Screaming Eagle at SFOMA, my first steel coaster (and looping) was the Jet Scream same place. First mag launched coaster was the poltergeist at SFFT, and first flier was the Goliath. First floorless was the Kraken at Sea World in Orlando.
I have been lurking here for a bit, wanted to get more info on SFFT after we got season passes, and found this place via google.
I hope to add my trip reports as we head there, and give up what info I can from an "outsider" perspective.
