Former United States President Ronald Reagan expired on Saturday 6/5/04 -- at the age of 93 years -- after losing his decade-long battle with Alzheimers disease. He served in office for two consecutive terms from 1981-1989.

The last former president who died was Richard Nixon back in 1994, the same year Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease.

A sad day indeed. Anyone who has had a loved one with Alzhimers knows it is a day of mixed blessings.

i like how they refer to it as "expiration" ... expirition is when something goes bad and isnt good for anything anymore but i dont think reagan will ever go bad. he was a great president IMO even though i was only alive for 3 years of his actual presidency, i think his legacy will last forever. That will never rot, no matter how past his "expiration" date it is.

The meaning of expire is simply to arrive at the end of one's life or validity, so the word does apply appropriately. It has a broad meaning which frequently gets confused within.

Anyone know why they are still flying flags at half staff? It's almost been at half staff for a month now.

Bush, he said that they should stay at half staff until he says.

The only thing that pissed me off, is that they flew the flags at half mass forever. They have to fly them at half mass for 30 days after the death. That sucks. It got annoying see all those flags at half mass.

It just got annoying seeing the Flags at half mass all the time. It was different then from seeing them at the very top. LOL. IMO.

I've seen the flags back at full staff for some time now.
