OK, since the season is right around the corner, let talk about all the trades that are happening and new coaching jobs and everything that has to do with the NBA. I made this thread because yall people were still talking in the NBA playoffs thread. <_<

Kobe is staying. He hasn't impressed me lately though. He seems a tad selfish.

Wooo Hooo, the spurs signed a lot of good players. They resigned Manu and Bowen and signed barry and their draft picks. I can't wait for the season to start.

And even more good news for us Texas fans -- Houston will host the 2006 NBA All-Star Weekend.

Do yall think the Spurs will sign Malone?

Colin

I hope not.

No, they won't....
He is taking too long with his decision

my friend's dad is the Spur's GM......

Jimmy

Karl Malone is likely not to fit in with Spurs style of play, which is why I don't expect him to sign with the Spurs.

I'm looking for him to either go back to the Lakers or retire.

And next season's schedule has now been disclosed it appears.

Colin

Looks like the Spurs will be resigning Robert Horry and signing Tony Massenburg.

Jimmy
08-05-2004, 03:00 PM
Tony Massenburg returns to the Spurs, who originally drafted him back in 1990 -- he has played for 11 other teams since his first time with Spurs.

Eleven...wow! Also Antoine Walker was traded to the Hawks. (For you Mavs fans)

That is what Walkers 3rd or 4th team? Dude that guy on the Spurs team must of have been everywhere now. LOL.

What do you think are the Mavs' chances this year? I'm personally hapy they did not get Shaq and, with him no longer part of the Lakers, we might do a little better in the west this year.

Jimmy

I didn't agree with Steve Nash's departure from the Mav's. It going to be tough at the 1 spot. I sure hope all the Texas teams do well again this year.

The Mavericks had that great season a couple season ago when they tied the Spurs at 60-22 and made it all the way to the Conference Finals. Wished they could have continued their run.

Scottie Pippen -- one of the NBA's all-time greats -- announces his retirement (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/basketball/nba/10/04/bc.bkn.bulls.pippen.ap/index.html).

Jimmy, how come we don't post as much in here as we do on TN? lol.

The NBA all star weekend is under way. last night was the dunk contest, 3 point shoot out, skills competion and that only team thingy. The dunk contest was awesome JR Smith ( i think) kick ass. He did amazing dunks. Chris Anderson on the other hand sucks ass.

Being a Mavericks fan, I will miss Don Nelson, "Coach's" sense of humor, his mastery of the game and everything he's done for us.
That being said, I like the fact there will be a renewed emphasis on defense as we head to the playoffs.

I am happy for Avery. I hope he does well.

As for the Spurs, oh my. They are struggling. Is there really a Malik Rose curse? :P

Jimmy

Well the playoffs got underway today.

My Houston Rockets got off to a nice start against Dallas to begin what I expect a great series. It'll be a wide open and a great series between the I-45 rivals.

Colin
04-24-2005, 11:53 AM
Yes, that will be a great series. Definately a fun one to watch. I didn't watch much of any playoff games yesterday because I went to SFFT with some friends. I plan to watch the Spurs tonight against Denver. It is going to be a tough one for them.

I kept flicking back between the NFL draft and the Mavericks/Rockets game.
The Cowboys draft? :)
The playoff game (I'm a Mavericks fan)
Hopefully the Mavs can regroup.

Jimmy

Brad, it'll be your team (Dallas) against mine (Houston). It should be a great wide open series. I always like the Texas playoffs matchups.

Actually I'm predicting Dallas to win in 6 or 7 games, because I think they are the better team and they have a probable MVP in Dirk (at least he's my pick for MVP this year). Although Houston surprised me in that first game. We'll see what happens.

Colin

I actually think Houston could win the series. It would be a pretty good upset too. I think Dallas could get far in this thing. They are the darkhorse of the playoffs, in my opinion. After seeing highlights of the game, I am not so sure now. Should be a good series anyways.

My MVP pick is Amare Stoudemire or Steve Nash. Not sure.

Jimmy

Houston could possibly win the series, but Dallas has more playoff experience and they upgraded their defense, which is why I feel they're the better team.

And Houston is shorthanded without Juwon Howard. A lot of what happens depends on Yao -- he has to play a great series for Houston to advance. T-Mac and Dirk will get their points. And Michael Finley also needs to play a great series for Dallas.

Jimmy

This has been a great series so far between Houston and Dallas with the games being so close and the road teams are winning every game.

04-30-2005, 10:39 PM
AHHHHH ROCKETS LOST AGAIN....
well if this pattern keeps up with the team on the road winning every game (which is pretty strange) the rockets will win the series

soo im happy :D

Nooooooooo! :o
Dirk, Michael and the Mavs deserve to win. I couldn't stand another first round elimination!

The Dallas-Houston series is a joke. No one wans to win on their home court. Sad Sad Sad.

Greenville, Texan
05-03-2005, 07:54 AM
Dallas did. Just one more to win the series, but I still think it will go to 7 games.
Which is OK, just as long as the Mavericks win. B)

Sorry Rockets fans ... :D
Of course, Dallas now has to face Phoenix and this will be no cakewalk.

Jimmy
05-08-2005, 09:14 PM
I can't figure out what went wrong for Houston in game 7?

Nobody (not even Mavs fans) could have possibly seen this 40-point massacre coming. Anyway.....great series (it was great at first), wished that last game was just a little bit closer.

I actually like Dallas chances against Phoenix in this one.

The only problem is the away games are going to be so late, each starting at 9:30, that I am going to be really bleary-eyed when I get to work each morning.

Well houston blew it....
so im for TEXAS now, san antonio or dallas

Jimmy
06-02-2005, 01:22 AM
Well the Spurs are headed back to the finals for their third time ever. The Spurs are now 3-5 all time in the Western Conference Finals after starting 0-5. They now await their toughest challenge of the season Miami or Detroit.

Jimmy
06-24-2005, 01:08 AM
San Antonio Spurs = 2005 NBA CHAMPIONS!!!

Detroit made it an incredibly tough series, but the Spurs pulled it out. Duncan looked really inconsistent, but came through when it mattered most. Ginobili was huge and you could have made an case for him being finals MVP.

06-24-2005, 08:29 AM
YEAH!!!! I was a little worried on games 3 and 4 but the spurs made it!!

Congrats to the Spurs, well deserved victory!
The only problem is, they are SO good, my beloved Mavericks will NEVER make it to the championship! :(
