Brookings, S.D. – September 3, 2004 – Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq - DAKT) has been awarded a contract worth $2.8 million to provide a new video display system for the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The system will include a total of eight displays using the Company’s proven ProStar® VideoPlus full-color light emitting diode (LED) technology. Daktronics will replace four existing displays in the center-hung scoreboard with four state-of-the-art ProStar® screens with high resolution 10 mm pixel spacing. Each of these displays will measure approximately 9 feet high by 12 feet wide.

Inside the facility, Daktronics will design, manufacture and install two additional ProStar® video displays that will be mounted in opposite corners of the arena. Each of these ProStar® screens will measure approximately 24 feet 6 inches high by 32 feet 6 inches wide, surrounded by static advertising panels.

Outside the facility, two new Daktronics ProStar® displays will be used in a marquee setting to promote upcoming events and provide additional information to those passing by. Dimensions of each of the displays are approximately 11 feet high by 30 feet wide.

The multiple Daktronics video displays will be integrated with the Company’s tried and tested Venus® controllers and V-Link® video processors.

According to Brent Stevens, Daktronics Large Sports Venue Region Manager, “We’re pleased to add the Alamodome to our growing list of large screen video customers. We’ve served the sports industry for more than 35 years and have installed more than 1,200 of these types of displays since 1997. Our proven display and control technologies will greatly enhance the wide variety of sports and entertainment events held at the Alamodome.”

Daktronics is recognized as the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of full-color LED video displays. The Alamodome contracted with the firm Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon and Williams, Inc. and Marmon Mok Engineering to design and assist in the evaluation of the proposals. Evaluation criteria included history of providing similar systems, service response time, contract alternatives, price and SBEDA (Small Business Economic Development Advocacy) policy compliance. Daktronics scored the highest of four firms that bid on the project.
