La Ronde’s phenomenal new steel giant will measure over 53 metres (175 feet) in height, making it 13 metres (43 feet) higher than the Monstre and 21 metres (69 feet) higher than the Vampire! After an initial drop of over 52 metres (171 feet), the intrepid passengers will take a 1,231-metre (4,039-foot) route at speeds reaching 110 km/h (68 mph) for over three minutes! Passengers will have to be at least 1.37 metres (54 inches) tall to ride the giant.

The exhilarating new Goliath will have two 36-passenger trains, each with nine cars with a capacity of four people across. To enhance this amazingly smooth and thrilling experience, the wagons will be open on the sides and the safety device will attach from bottom to top, giving passengers the impression that they are flying far above Sainte-Hélène Island. A significant feature of the unbeatable Goliath is that its expansive twisting track will whisk guests outside the park, to the eastern point of Sainte-Hélène Island, before rushing them back into the park, over a series of quick hills and drops and finally to a smooth ending in the station house, located near Tour de Ville.

The Goliath was custom-designed for La Ronde by the famous manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard of Monthey, Switzerland, a company known in the industry for the quality of its thrill-producing rides. Bolliger & Mabillard also designed La Ronde’s popular Vampire ride, installed in 2002.

The Goliath will cost $18.7 million, the largest investment for a single ride since the park opened in 1967. Construction has already begun on the giant roller coaster and will continue throughout the winter in order to be ready for thrill-seekers when La Ronde opens. Building this first-ever ride in Canada, will take close to 100 specialized workers, 300 pilings, 150 cement foundations, 106 columns, 1,750 m³ (61,800 f3) of cement and 850 anchor bolts.

I don't really think there is a height limit. SF or whoever makes the coaster would probably find a way to get it as high as they want.

There is a limit at SFFT. That was set when the park was bought. The Only ride that meets that is Scream. That is one reason that the Skt Coaster is not there anymore.

i dont think the hight is 200 feet from what i heard it is 300 feet and if it is they should build a roller coaster that is like 300 feet tall that would be great for six flags fiesta texas we need a tall and fast roller coaster that no one has at there park.

What exactly is the limit?

The sky coaster was 210 which is 10 feet too tall. That would make it 200 not 300. I do not mean to sound rude but this has been talked about before. And people that are mis-informed keep thinking that they can put a massive coaster in and they can't.

Sorry for getting off subject, but does anyone know why there is a height limit at SFFT?

Maybe it has something to do with the 5 AFBs we had operating in our city back in 1992. I don't know, just throwing that out there. Either way I'm pretty sure this is about that La Ronde coaster and not a debate of the height limit. It's there, accept it. We'll never get a huge coaster. You act like we have room for one, anyways.

The skycoaster was not 210 feet. The old skycoasters were available as 180 ft singles or 150 ft doubles. FT had a 180 ft single, which is now at the State Fair. It did not exceed the height limit.

sorry this is my last thing to say about the hight ok. well we have 100 ft cliff walls so dose that mean 200 ft from the top of the cliff wall or from the bottom of it. ;)

Yes you are correct. The back tower was 180. The main a-frame the the cables hang off of is 210 feet. And the 200 foot cap is set off one point in the middle of the park. Which is below the walls. That is wear they start with everything. Sorry James. It just make me so mad when people are miss informed. Sorry guys. I am done with this subject.

Ok, rather than posting a new post, I decided to edit this one. Since I couldn't find any of the pictures I was looking for, I'm just gonna have to explain this with words.

When they hoist you up on the drop tower, you are pretty much level with the platform that the cables are connected to on the main tower. The top of the main tower is 10 ft at most higher than said platform, so the main platform couldn't have possibly been 210 ft tall.

Byron-- it's really not that serious. LOL.. Accept it. You're basing your entire argument off of your own logistics while Scuba Steve is using factual information. So let it go. Now.. HOW ABOUT THAT LA RONDE COASTER, EH? (I felt the "eh" was appropriate when talking about a canadian roller coaster.)

Hmm...I was told that the skycoaster was removed not because of height issues but becaus La Cantera didn't like it's appearance. I was also told that the height limit is 200' above the cliffs.

Those of you that know who I am, can probably guess where I heard it.

La Cantera doesn't like a lot of things. But it's all still there.
