Most likely not. I think it is safe to assume that the RCT series is over, and you can thank RCT3 for that. In my opinion that game ruined the franchise, and the ruined everything chris sawyer worked hard for. That's a shame too, because that game had the potential to be the best, even in todays hustle and bustle of a game industry. RCT3 lost all of its standards of quaility of game play. On top of that, the owner of the rights has changed so much proving instability. First Hasbro, Infrigames, Atari, now Frointer.

Even if a RCT4 comes out, I think the game is on the decline quality wise. The latest version gave us everything we asked for including the ability to ride the coasters we created, but yet, the game just was not as much fun as earlier versions. Who knows, if RCT4 does come out, it might be a lot of fun, but if Chris Sawyer is not part of it, I kind of doubt it will be.

It gave us what we asked for in that sense, but the game play was not the same. It was LESS realistic, even than RCT itself already was.

He didn't hear it, he's speculating it. There will be no RCT4.

I didn't like RCT3 at all. It lagged WAAAY too much and I found the controls to be a little more complicated than the first two.

If RCT4 was a throwback to the original...that'd be cool.

I also think they should release a RCT game for the Nintendo DS...the touch screen would be awesome!

An RCT4 would never be successful or even worth playing as long as Atari owns the rights to the series. The fact that Chris Sawyer was almost not even involved in the making of the third is what ruined it, on top of an extremely weak 3D graphics engine which lagged on even the best of top notch computer systems. Faulty programming and bad business moves. If I am not mistaking, Chris Sawyer is still in an active lawsuit against Atari over royalty payments for the rights to RCT. Unless Sawyer/Frontier gets the rights back, this series, in my opinion, is dead.

I actually liked RCT3, but the original was definitely better. And like txshady said even top notch systems had a hard time running it. My system should have been able to handle it with no problem but it was still laggy. I was lucky if the game stayed around 10 fps.

mine never lagged

I didn't have much problems with the lagging while the park was somewhat small. My FPS would tank from around 47 FPS to around 12 or 13 FPS once my park took the whole map, and this is with a Core 2 E6600 and a GeForce 8600 GTS. Not the highest end of setups, but it would fall in the top tier... I tried playing RCT3 on a P4 and it just was not happening. For the amount of time they took to release the game, that should have put out a much better product overall than what was released.
