Hehe....I used to be back in the 90's. Haven't really followed it since then.

My son Nick is. It has been his life's ambition since birth to be part of a drumline.

Cool. Ever pursue marching?
I marched in revolution in 2003 with the intentions of auditioning for the Blue Devils in 2004, then...well, look at my signature, hehe. I took the Cedar Point job right before all-days. Still a huge fan though. I went to the 2006 finals in Wisconsin...amazing. I'm all about the Santa Clara Vanguard.
any favorites?

I have a long list of favorites but of course it varies from year to year. One corp from before your time......Star of Indiana. LOVED THEM!!! I was also a big Phantom Regiment fan as well. Depending on the years I liked some Madison Scout shows and some Cavaliers. Santa Clara Vanguard was great when Gail Royer was there but went down after he passed away. (of course this all before your time) LOL God I feel old now!

I enjoy some of BK's newer stuff, not really a fan of their pre-00 stuff. Star is definitely one of my favorites as well, noteably their 91,92, and 93 shows...drool...drum corps at its finest. Look out, I'm a firm believer that Crown is the new Star.
...so you really think Vanguard's gone down since Royer's passing? That's saying a lot...97...98...99 (they tied for world champions that year btw)! If anything, they were re-born after Royer's death. Give them another year or two, they'll be out on top again. They started the 2007 season ahead of the crowd and stayed on top until early July. This year was one of (if not THE) most competitive years in drum corps history and they finished in 5th. 2008 is the year for the Vanguard...I know it. (hehe...I've been saying that since 2002, hehe)
You shouldn't feel old. I'm only a few years younger than you. I enjoy the classics too (and by classics I mean early 80's drum corps, like the Bridgemen).
Btw, I hate the Cavaliers with a passion.

Hehe...that's cool. Cavaliers arent my favorite but they always seem to have the up and up on the drills. It seems that I lost touch with Drum Corps after marching. Changed majors and everything. As far as favorites....I prefer Santa Clara Vanguards 1989 Phantom of the Opera over their 1988 version. I also LOVED their Miss Saigon show and their Carmen show as well as Red Poppy. *correct me if I'm wrong on that last title* I personally think Star of Indiana got let down in 93 but oh well....I like the Cadets every now and then. Phantom Regiment 1993 LOVE IT! Blue Devils.....1994, LOVE IT.
Anyways......now after talking about it...I miss it a little. hehe. oh well

Yeah, you pretty much listed many of my favorite shows. Can't forget Phantom's 89 and their legendary 96 shows. Amazing.
Yes, Star should have won in 1993, but the Cadets were smokin' that year. It's probably my favorite Cadet show...after 2000 of course.
You know, my new year's resolution is to start playing again and try to find the time to join a DCA corps. Just gotta finish grad school first. I play trumpet by the way. What do you play?
btw, not sure if you know, by Arizona has a new, GREAT div. 1 (now back to world class) corps called The Academy. They went undefeated in 2006 in div. II and almost cracked div. I finals this year.

Yeh.....Madison had been going down hill back in the 90's so I guess it's still the same now as it was then.
