Exclamation TR:Six Flags Magic Mountain 6/6/09 *Photos*

Alrighty....so I just got back from L.A. today after a short little visit to SFMM. We arrived at SFMM around 10:15 a.m. It was a bit chilly and overcast. There were a couple breaks in the clouds throughout the day but temperature wise I don't think it was above 65 degrees. There were some buses heading into SFMM and we were lucky enough to get way in front of them so we could get to the gate before the kids did. Schools in California are still in session for another couple of weeks. So we get to park and head over to the front of the park. SFFM is the only Six Flags park I know that still uses the tram system to get people from the parking lot to the front of the park. We decided not to ride it just for the simple fact that getting to them was like the running of the bulls in Mexico. So anyways...yeh....we get to the front of the park.....school kids EVERYWHERE. I believe there was a cheerleading competition there as well because there was several squads waiting out front. (We didn't see any others in the park so they either ran out of clean clothes or there was a competition) Here's a photo of us driving in...

Once we get into the park we head over to X2. When we get to X2 there is a line out the ride entrance and down the walkway. A couple people said the line was 4 hours long but we figured it was less so we stayed in line. Once we got to the ride entrance there was a security guard handing out little green boarding passes with numbers printed at the bottom of them for the ride. Very nice system and prevents from line cutting. No boarding pass or boarding pass with number out of sequence= No Ride. (yes they did look at the numbers) So in reality, wait time was actually 1 hour 45 minutes. All I have to say is WELL WORTH THE WAIT! I'm glad I got to finally ride this coaster. Nothing else I've ridden compares to X2. This has got to be absolutely the most intense coaster I have ever been on. Here's the on ride pic. That's me on the right in the blue shirt.

Ok...so now on to the rest of the day. After X2 we ended up walking around the park looking for something to eat. Lines everywhere. We end up walking around the entire park just to end up at Panda Express. SFMM really needs to add more tables at this location. With the number of people buying food there, there were a lot of them who were having to sit on a curb to eat their meals. We were lucky to spot a table just as a family was getting up to leave so we didn't have to sit on the curb. :-)

After lunch we headed over to the back of the park to get in line for Terminator: Salvation. Again, the line was out the front of the ride entrance. Once we got to the entrance, security guard and boarding passes. Theming was nice with this ride. It's nice to see Six Flags put the "theme" back in "Theme park". Pretty much the entire part of the outside queue is inside the coaster which is pretty cool. Unfortunately I locked my camera up in a locker so unfortunately no videos. See the Media Day video put together by Robb Alvey at Theme Park Review to all aspects of the coaster including the indoor preshow rooms. http://www.themeparkreview.com/coast...media_day_0yvk. We were told wait time was about 1.5 to 2 hour wait, we got through in 1 hour and 20 minutes. This coaster was probably one of the best wooden coasters I've ever ridden. Once we were over the lift hill, there was no letting up. This coaster is nothing but speed throughout the entire ride. It would be very nice if SFFT got a woodie like this one.

After Terminator, we walked over to the parks mine train "The GoldRusher". It wasn't really much to write home about but it was still a coaster credit. I think this was one of those Arrow mine trains where the designers hadn't learned about banked turns yet.

Once we were done with that, we headed over to ride Riddler's Revenge. When I visited the park last year, Riddler's Revenge was down so I didn't get to ride. We waited about 45 minutes to ride. This coaster is really fun and is only the 2nd stand up coaster I have ridden since Batman:The Escape at SFAW. One thing I would like to see is Six Flags fix up the theming on this ride. Theming aside, I loved this coaster and my favorite inversion is the dive loop.

Here are the rest of the pictures I took on Saturday. Yes.....only 4 coasters in 5.5 hours. We decided not to Flash Pass considering we wanted to ride coasters we didn't get to ride last year. Overall we had a fun day. Park Employees were friendly. I was really surprised when we were looking at one of the large park maps and an employee walked up to us and asked if we needed help finding anything. That was something I totally didn't expect and then he offered us a park map in the event we had trouble finding anything else.

Here is the link to last years Magic Mountain TR. http://sfftnet.com/forums/showpost.p...33&postcount=1

This is Scream from the parking lot. Hmmmmm I wonder where they came up with that name????? And yes, this coaster was built on the parking lot and then fenced in.

X2 and Viper from the front of the park.

Everything from here down was taken from the X2 queue.

The lines were long for everything. We had wanted to ride more but we would have had to bought the Flash Pass and we really didn't feel like spending the money. I'm sure the park is making a killing on Flash Pass sales considering all the Flash Pass holders we saw in the X2 line alone. The only ride with a short line was the GoldRusher mine train ride. Other than that....all the "big kid" rides had quite a wait.

Really nice pics. I visited SFMM in March and having read so many negative reviews of the park the last few years, I wasn't really expecting much, but I REALLY enjoyed this park! Tatsu is, hands down, the best coaster in the park imo!

Not only was I surprised with the quality of the rides at the park, but the employees were amazing. We too were also approached by many employees as we tried to find our way around the park. Few helped us with directions and others just asked us how our day at the park was. Awesome.

By the way, I have POV's of Viper (my new favorite Arrow!) and X2 on my facebook. PM if you're interested and I'll send you the links.

I found a link to the soundtrack for X2. The soundtrack starts off in the station with "Is everybody in? Is everybody in? The ceremony is about to begin". Once the train leaves the station you hear "It had to be you....it had to be you...." and then it sounds like the recording gets messed up and it changes to "enter sandman". When you hear "We are High UP!" on the recording is when the train is hitting the top of the lift hill and then you hear "GOING DOWNNNNNN!!" right at the first drop and then it's nothing but craziness from there. I'm sure Viperdude would agree.

Anyways.......just listen to it. You'll get the picture. LOL

Great TR, Arizonaguy! Love the photos. And the X2 soundtrack? Well, I already wanted to ride the ride, but the soundtrack makes me wish I could go NOW!

I wish ALL *major* rides had music effects though. The first and only ride I've been on so far that had music on the ride was The Italian Job at Kings Dominion (yeah, I know it's not called that anymore, but that's what I know it as), and I was hooked. It simply "ups" the ride experience all the way around.

I had a thought... there was talk on another thread about the wish of SKC getting an upgrade/overhaul... how 'bout the addition of a music soundtrack???

Yeh.....the music soundtrack makes it a really fun experience. When I got to ride "Backlot Stunt Coaster" at Kings Island, they didn't have the soundtrack anymore. :-( The Terminator: Salvation soundtrack was pretty cool too.
