Hi all,
This past weekend I updated the versions of PHP and MySQL used on our server. We had previously been on MySQL 4 and jumped up to MySQL 5.1 (

), and as part of the change it totally screwed up our forum database. And if that wasn't enough, shitty code in our forum software lit up like a Christmas tree. I initially fixed some issues with the forum right after the upgrade but last night I noticed one of the database tables had corrupted. I've got that fixed now, but please let me know if you notice any little quirky issues with the forum software and I'll look into it.
Also, a word of warning-- if anyone here is ever about to buy a vBulletin license, don't do it. We've had an owned license for years with updates, but vBulletin is just down right screwing anyone who had one of these licenses. Our forums are on version 3.8.0(ish), and they came out with 4.0 not too long ago. Apparently all of the fixes to the PHP & database issues we've run across are in an update, 3.8.4. But you can't get that update without buying a vB 4 license ($175! - and the previously cheaper update package of $30 a year is GONE), regardless of whether or not you want vB 4. Unfortunately, I can't justify spending that much on a forum update. Based on how they're treating their loyal customers, I'd hate for anyone else to get screwed like this. Absolutely pathetic.
Thanks,
Brandon
