Exclamation Rumor: Future Rattler ReVamp for 2012/2013????

I know this came from ScreamScape and a lot of things on there can be taken with a grain of salt but still..........

Quote:
2012/2013 - The Rattler Revamped - Rumor - (4/16/10) Screamscape sources tell us that if the reborn Texas Giant rocks as hard as we think it will when it reopens in 2011… look for the construction crews to start working their way South about 5 hours, as The Rattler is expected to be “fixed” next.
I can personally see this happening considering The Rattler (and the park) is coming up on it's 20 year Anniversary in 2012. If they could only make that helix a nice, fast, banked helix.........or trash the helix all together and come up with a better solution.

I rather have a new wooden coaster in Boardwalk then upgrade Rattler.

As much as I would love a new wooden coaster for the Boardwalk area similar to Evel K or Terminator......I wouldn't mind seeing a Rattler revamp either. For as big as it is, it's such a let down.....to some people. It really does have a lot of potential!

A little bit more from Screamscape......
We'll see if anything else develops. I'd be very amazed to see if this pans out.

2012/2013 - The Rattler Reborn - Rumor - (4/20/10) The latest rumor to buzz my way from Fiesta Texas indicated that the park may not even wait to see if the refurbished Texas Giant is any good or not, and may be making plans to begin their own massive renovation of The Rattler as early as this fall. Much like how the new Texas Giant is going to have a modified and improved layout, I’m told that there is a definite plan to return The Rattler to it’s former glory, restoring the ride’s first drop to it’s full and intended height as well as other improvements throughout. More when we find out.

I have no arguments against it. It seems like they are taking the time to do it right on Texas Giant and I would love to see them do something similar to Rattler to make it better. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would also appreciate it and some that will protest it. I'm all for it, though!

Yup....totally agree. I'm sure engineering and designing has gotten better in the past 20 years. With that being said, I'm sure they can be successful with providing a nice redesign and facelift. :-)

And as always, Stacy gets to be the 'stick in the mud'...

Until a formal announcement is made by SF directly...............

The Reborn Rattler sounds like it has a nice ring to it. I'd also like the name Rattler's Revenge.

ROFL....I like that.

The one thing I'm Six Flags wouldn't do would be to revamp the first drop back to what it was opening season unless they want to bring back a boat load of lawsuits. I'm sure if there is revamp on the Rattler it would be changes to the layout and if the first drop is indeed changed, it would be to the "intended" first drop that we never saw since the first drop was altered mid construction.

Just my 2 cents

Well, I think it would be nice for them to revamp the Rattler. I don't really like the ride the way it is now. I didn't have much of a thrill on it the last time I rode it.

Oh my lord I totally had this very same thought the other day. I don't really want a revamp but more of a restoration back to it's original self.

Also about the name, "Rattler Re-hatched"

I have not ridden it in a couple of years. we are going back this summer thinking about letting my 10 yr old daughter ride it with me. She loves good coasters. She rode titan with me and loved it. The only thing does this coaster still hurt like a mother? The last time I rode it 3 years ago I got a bruise in my kidney area that was the size of a soccerball no kidding. I have not rode it since, but my daughter is 52 inches, and she is tired of tony hawk rr express and boomerang. I like the city and the overall park better than sfot ;I just wish it had as many coasters.

With current engineering advancements (such as using steel rails like on the Giant) they could easily remake the original first drop. The original was just poorly engineered and constructed. RCCA isn't know for making anything special...

But until then we will just have to wait and see!

I still say a flyer or a hyper...I can dream, right? but seriously, a re-vamp is seriously needed for the Rattler just like we always talk about!

How about they recreate The Rocket that used to be at Playland?

The Rocket (now known as the Phoenix at Knoebels) is one of the best coasters in the world...would be sick to see it brought back to San Antonio. I rode it in 2008 and the airtime is just amazing. Sad to know such a good ride used to be in SA

Yeh really. Now that I was reading that Texas Giant is going to have the steepest drop.......I hope Rattler can get the revamp to get that old drop back. Who knows....maybe with all the new coaster technology out there they can put the bottom of the first drop back to where it was before. Here's wishing!

Yup, the new Texas Giant is going to be insane. It does have the steepest drop for a wood structure at 79 degrees, but it is definitely a steel coaster now. Who cares though, the crazy steepness of the drop combined with the small radius should result in crazy ejector air and the double up at the bottom of the drop is crazy tight...this ride is going to absolutely crazy. Looks better than El Toro to me.

Yeh really. By looking at some of the construction pics, I'm sure they can make something great out of the Rattler again!
